Remembering God's Provision: Building Your Faithfulness Story
When Israel crossed the Jordan River into the Promised Land, God told them to take twelve stones from the riverbed and stack them as a memorial:
Joshua 4:6–7: "That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones? Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD."
God knew His people would forget. The stones helped them remember, and helped them pass the story on.
Why remembering matters
Psalm 77:11: "I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old."
Psalm 105:5: "Remember his marvellous works that he hath done."
When money is tight or the future is uncertain, remembering God's past provision builds faith for the present.

- When did someone unexpectedly help you financially?
- When did a job, raise, or opportunity come at the right moment?
- When did God stretch a small amount further than it should have gone?
- When did a bill turn out lower than expected?
- When did you get through a season you thought would break you?
- When did God provide something you didn't even ask for?
- When did a closed door lead to something better?
- Who has God used to bless your family?
- When did God provide through your church?
- When did you get out of a financial hole?
- When did you have enough to help someone else?
- What answered prayer about money do you remember most?
- How has God provided for your children?
- What has God taught you through seasons of lack?
Build your memorial stones
- Keep a provision journal. Date each entry. A dedicated journal becomes a family treasure.
- Create a family "stones" jar. Write provisions on stones or slips of paper.
- Tell the stories to your kids. Let them hear how God has provided.
- Share your testimony. Your story might encourage someone who's struggling. Read others' stories on our Testimonies blog.
Our Never Failed Me Yet Collection was created for exactly this kind of remembering: looking back and declaring He hasn't failed you yet.
A prayer
Lord, help me remember everything You've done. Thank You for every provision, big and small. When I'm worried about the future, remind me of Your faithfulness in the past. Amen.
