Prayers for Safe Travel
Whether you're heading out on a spring break road trip, boarding a plane, sending a child off to college, or watching a loved one deploy, travel can stir up worry. These short prayers bring God's promise of presence and protection into every journey.
Genesis 28:15: "And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest."
Psalm 121:8: "The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore."
Before a road trip
Lord, as we pull out of the driveway, go before us. Keep us alert and safe on every mile. Protect us from accidents, breakdowns, and danger. Give us patience with each other and joy in the journey. Bring us safely to our destination and safely home again. Amen.
Before a flight
Father, You are with me in the air just as You are on the ground. Give the pilots and crew wisdom and skill. Calm my nerves. Keep this flight safe, and bring me safely to where I'm going. Amen.
For a child heading off
Lord, I'm sending my child out into the world. Go with them where I can't. Protect them on the road and in every new place. Surround them with good people. Remind them they are never alone. Amen.
For a loved one far away
Exodus 23:20: "Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way."
Father, You know exactly where [name] is right now. Keep them in Your care. Guard their body, mind, and heart. Give them peace and courage, and bring them safely back to us. Amen.
This is a meaningful prayer for military families, missionaries, and loved ones traveling for work.
For a work trip
Lord, bless the work I'll do on this trip. Give me wisdom, favor, and integrity. Protect my family while I'm gone and bring me home to them safely. Amen.
For coming home
Thank You, Lord, for bringing us home safely. Thank You for every mile You kept us and every moment You watched over us. Amen.
