Faith Hub · Grief & Loss
You Are Still Held.
Faith for the days when words aren’t enough.
Grief can change everything.
Some days you may pray with confidence.
Some days you may have questions.
Some days you may cry.
Some days you may feel nothing at all.
You do not have to pretend here.
This is a gentle place for biblical encouragement, prayer, remembrance, and practical help as you walk through life after loss.
We will not rush your grief.
We will not tell you how you should feel.
We will not try to explain away your pain.
We simply want to remind you: your grief is not a failure of faith.
“The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”Psalm 34:18
I don’t know what I need today
That’s okay. You don’t need the right words.
Start with whatever feels closest to your heart right now.
When someone you love dies
Grief is personal. The person you lost mattered to you in a way no category can describe.
These are simply places to begin.
A prayer when you don’t know what to say
God, I don’t know what I need today.
I miss what was. I miss who was here.
And sometimes I don’t know what to do with everything I feel.
You know the parts of my grief I can explain, and the parts I cannot put into words.
Please meet me here. Not where I think I should be. Not where everyone expects me to be. Here.
Give me enough grace for this moment. Enough strength for the next breath. Enough light for the next step.
And when I don’t feel strong, remind me that I don’t have to hold myself together to be held by You.
Amen.
Psalm 34:18 · Psalm 56:8When grief returns
Sometimes grief arrives on days you expected. Sometimes it finds you in the grocery store. In a song. In an empty chair. In the middle of an ordinary Tuesday.
There is no shame in having a hard day.
Remember their story
Their life was more than the day they died. Their laugh mattered. Their stories mattered. The things they taught you mattered. And their name still matters.
Print any of these, or save them as a PDF. They’re free, and they’re yours.
Scripture for grieving hearts
Sometimes you don’t need many words. You just need somewhere to rest your heart.
Helping someone you love
You may be here because someone you love is grieving and you’re afraid of saying the wrong thing.
You don’t need perfect words to show up.
You don’t have to fix their grief to love them through it.
Little hearts, big grief
Children can have big questions when someone they love dies. These are written for a grown-up to read with a child, slowly, with room for questions.
🧩 When your child is neurodivergent
Autistic, ADHD, and other neurodivergent children grieve too, often in ways that don’t look like what adults expect. There is no wrong way to grieve, and no wrong way for your child to.
Written for parents and caregivers. You know your child best. Take what fits and leave the rest.
When grief feels too heavy
Faith and professional support can stand beside each other. There may be times when encouragement from family, friends, church, or this page is not enough. Reaching out does not mean you have failed spiritually.
Grief that stays unbearably heavy for a long time, keeps you from caring for yourself, or makes you feel you can’t go on deserves real support: a grief counselor, a pastor, your doctor, or a grief group (many churches and hospices host them free).
If you are thinking about ending your life, or you’re not sure you want to be here: please call or text 988 (US) right now, or text HOME to 741741. Outside the US, contact your local crisis line. You matter, and the world is not better without you.
Other places to find help: GriefShare groups near you (griefshare.org), your local hospice’s bereavement program (open to the public, usually free), and your church’s pastoral care team.
If you came here because someone you love died, we want you to hear this before you go:
You don’t have to be okay today.
You don’t have to find meaning in everything that happened.
You don’t have to stop saying their name.
You don’t have to hide your tears to prove that you trust God.
You can grieve. You can remember. You can question. You can rest. You can take today one moment at a time.
You are still His.
You are still loved.
You are still held.
“The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart.”Psalm 34:18
