Peter
The one who jumped out of the boat
You speak first, think later, and somehow still end up on the front lines. You walked on water, got distracted by the wind and started sinking (Matthew 14:29–30). You once cut off a man’s ear (John 18:10). At the Transfiguration you offered to build three tents because, and this is in the Bible, you didn’t know what to say (Mark 9:5–6). And when Jesus was on the shore, you jumped out of the boat and swam rather than wait for it to reach land (John 21:7).
Your superpower
All-in faith. After denying Jesus three times, He restored you three times (John 21:15–17), and you preached the sermon where about 3,000 people came to faith in one day (Acts 2:41).
Your growth area
Count to three before you swing. Or speak.
“Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Matthew 16:16, said by you
😈 Fun fact: Jesus once said “Get thee behind me, Satan” to you personally (Matthew 16:23). Wear the comeback: Not Today, Satan →You are
John
The beloved (and you want everyone to know it)
You’re a hugger. At the Last Supper you were leaning right on Jesus (John 13:23). In your own Gospel you called yourself “the disciple whom Jesus loved.” Five times. When you and Peter raced to the empty tomb, you outran him, and you made sure to write that down (John 20:4). Petty? Maybe. Accurate? Yes.
Your superpower
Love that stays. You were at the cross when almost everyone else had scattered, and Jesus trusted you with His own mother (John 19:26–27).
Your growth area
Jesus also nicknamed you a “Son of Thunder” (Mark 3:17). That soft heart has a storm setting. Use it wisely.
“God is love.”
1 John 4:8, written by you, obviously

James
The Son of Thunder
You don’t have a temper. You have a weather system. When a Samaritan village wouldn’t welcome Jesus, you and John asked if you should call down fire from heaven on them (Luke 9:54). And when you wanted the best seats in the kingdom, your mom went to Jesus and asked for you (Matthew 20:20–21). Yes. You had your mom call the manager.
Your superpower
Ride-or-die loyalty. You were part of Jesus’ inner circle (Mark 9:2), and you were the first of the twelve apostles to give your life for Him (Acts 12:2).
Your growth area
Not everything needs fire from heaven. Some things just need a snack and a nap.
“Whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister.”
Mark 10:43, Jesus’ answer to your seating request
⚡ Bold, fearless and loyal: No Longer a Slave to Fear →You are
Thomas
The fact-checker
You want receipts, and you’re not sorry. When the others said Jesus was alive, you said you’d believe it when you touched the nail marks yourself (John 20:25). But history gave you an unfair nickname. You were also the one ready to go and die with Jesus (John 11:16), and your honest question, “How can we know the way?”, got one of the greatest answers ever given: “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:5–6).
Your superpower
Honest questions that lead to huge answers. When you finally saw Him, you made one of the boldest confessions in the Bible: “My Lord and my God” (John 20:28).
Your growth area
Sometimes faith has to move before the proof shows up.
“Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”
John 20:29
🙏 For the recovering over-thinker: Keep Calm & Trust God →You are
Matthew
The organized one who throws the party
You were a tax collector, so yes, you’re good with numbers (Matthew 9:9). The minute Jesus called you, you threw a huge feast and invited a crowd of tax collectors and sinners (Luke 5:29). The religious leaders were scandalized. You did not care. Also, your Gospel opens with a genealogy. A long one. Because details matter.
Your superpower
Turning your past into a guest list. You bring people to Jesus who would never walk into a church on their own.
Your growth area
Not everything needs a spreadsheet. (But honestly, it helps.)
“I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
Matthew 9:13, said at your party
💼 For the desk you keep perfectly organized: Office Humor Gifts →You are
Andrew
The connector
You know everybody. The first thing you did after meeting Jesus was go get your brother and say, “We have found the Messias” (John 1:41). You’re the one who spotted the boy with five loaves and two fishes (John 6:8–9). You helped bring the Greeks to Jesus (John 12:22). And still, the Bible keeps introducing you as “Simon Peter’s brother.” Middle-child energy.
Your superpower
Bringing people to Jesus, one introduction at a time. Peter preached to thousands, but you’re the one who brought Peter.
Your growth area
Your quiet faithfulness matters, even when your name isn’t the one in lights.
“And he brought him to Jesus.”
John 1:42, the story of your life
🎁 You’re always bringing someone something: Gifts Under $25 →You are
Philip
The human calculator
When Jesus asked where they could buy bread for 5,000 people, you instantly ran the numbers: 200 pennyworth of bread wouldn’t even give everyone a little (John 6:5–7). You like a plan, a budget and a visual aid. You literally asked Jesus, “Shew us the Father” (John 14:8).
Your superpower
“Come and see.” When your friend Nathanael doubted, you didn’t argue. You just invited him (John 1:45–46).
Your growth area
God’s math doesn’t always work on paper. After everyone ate, there were 12 baskets left over (John 6:13).
“He himself knew what he would do.”
John 6:6, Jesus already had a plan
💯 When the numbers don’t add up: Never Failed Me Yet →You are
Nathanael
The no-filter friend
When Philip told you the Messiah was from Nazareth, you said, “Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth?” (John 1:46). Brutal. And Jesus’ response? He complimented you: “Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!” (John 1:47). You may be the only person in history praised by Jesus right after roasting His hometown.
Your superpower
Total honesty. And when Jesus told you He saw you under the fig tree, you went from skeptic to “Thou art the Son of God” in about two verses (John 1:48–49).
Your growth area
Maybe meet the person from Nazareth before you write the review.
“Thou shalt see greater things than these.”
John 1:50
😂 Honest and hilarious: the Holy Humor collection →Every disciple was an ordinary, flawed person Jesus chose on purpose. Whatever you got, you’re in good company.
