Healing From What Broke You: A Devotional for the Wounded Heart
Some wounds don’t bleed on the outside — they bleed in the heart. Maybe it was:
-
A relationship that ended without closure
-
A betrayal you never saw coming
-
A parent who didn’t protect you
-
A dream that fell apart
-
A season that left you feeling abandoned
You’ve learned how to function, smile, work, and show up… but deep down, something still aches.
God sees that place.
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3
Healing isn’t God telling you to “get over it.” Healing is God sitting with you in the pain and gently stitching you back together.
1. Healing Takes Time — And That’s Okay
In real life, healing looks like:
-
Crying unexpectedly in the car
-
Feeling triggered by something small
-
Having good days and then hard days
-
Wanting to forgive but still feeling hurt
Healing is not linear. God is patient with your process.
2. God Heals What You Don’t Talk About
You can’t heal what you hide. God invites you to bring Him:
-
The anger
-
The confusion
-
The disappointment
-
The questions
-
The memories
He can handle the parts of your story you’re scared to say out loud.
3. Healing Doesn’t Mean the Past Didn’t Happen — It Means It No Longer Controls You
God doesn’t erase your story. He redeems it.
Try this today:
Write down one wound you want God to begin healing. Pray over it honestly.
Prayer:
Lord, touch the places in me that still hurt. Heal what I can’t fix and restore what was broken. Amen.
Reflection Question:
What part of your heart needs God’s healing right now?
