When You Don’t Know What to Do: A Devotional on God’s Guidance
Share
Life is full of decisions — some small, some life‑changing. And sometimes you reach a point where you genuinely don’t know what to do next.
Do you stay or leave? Apply or wait? Speak up or stay silent? Move forward or pause?
Uncertainty can feel paralyzing — but God promises to guide you.
“In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.” — Proverbs 3:6
God doesn’t just watch your steps — He directs them.
1. God Often Speaks Through Peace, Not Pressure
In real life, guidance looks like:
-
A sense of calm about one option
-
A lack of peace about another
-
A door closing that you tried to force open
-
A conversation that confirms what you felt
-
A scripture that suddenly stands out
Peace is often God’s compass.
2. God Guides You One Step at a Time
He rarely gives the whole plan. He gives the next step.
Just like headlights on a dark road — you only see a little ahead, but it’s enough to keep moving.
3. God’s Guidance Aligns With His Word
If it contradicts scripture, it’s not God. If it steals your peace, it’s not God. If it requires you to compromise your character, it’s not God.
Try this today:
Ask God: “Show me the next right step.”
Prayer:
Lord, guide my decisions and steady my heart. Give me clarity, peace, and wisdom as I follow Your direction. Amen.
Reflection Question:
Where do you need God’s guidance right now?
