Prayers for Healing: For Yourself and Others

When illness comes, for yourself or someone you love, prayer can feel both urgent and hard. You want to pray, but the words get stuck in fear or exhaustion. Here are prayers for healing you can pray in many different situations.

Jeremiah 17:14: "Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise."

Before surgery

Lord, I place this surgery in Your hands. Guide the surgeons and every member of the medical team. Give them skill, focus, and wisdom. Calm my fears, protect my body, and bring me through safely to recovery. Amen.

For chronic illness

Father, living with this illness is exhausting. Some days I'm tired of being sick. Give me strength for today, relief from pain, and wise doctors and treatments. Heal me, Lord. And until You do, carry me and let Your grace be enough. Amen.

For mental health

Lord, my mind is hurting. Bring healing to my thoughts and emotions. Lead me to the right help, whether counseling, medication, rest, or community. Remind me that seeking help is not a lack of faith. Hold me close in the dark days. Amen.

For a loved one in the hospital

Father, [name] is in the hospital, and I'm scared. Comfort them, ease their pain, and give their medical team wisdom. Bring healing to their body. Give our family peace and strength as we wait. Amen.

For a sick child

Lord, my child is sick, and I feel helpless. You love them even more than I do. Touch their little body with healing. Give them rest and comfort. Give me patience and peace, and guide the doctors caring for them. Amen.

For healing of the heart

Psalm 147:3: "He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds."

Lord, not all wounds are physical. Heal the grief, trauma, and pain inside me. Bind up my broken heart. Amen.

When healing hasn't come

Father, I've prayed for healing, and it hasn't come the way I hoped. I don't understand, but I still trust You. Your grace is sufficient (2 Corinthians 12:9). Hold me, give me peace, and remind me that one day You'll wipe away every tear. Amen.
