Prayers for Protection Over Your Home

Your home is more than a building. It's where your family rests, laughs, argues, heals, and grows. Praying over your home invites God's protection and peace into every room and every person who walks through your door.

Psalm 127:1: "Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain."

Psalm 91:10: "There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling."

A room-by-room prayer walk

Walk through your house and pray in each space. Many families do this when they move in, at the start of a new year, or after a hard season.

The front door: Lord, guard our going out and our coming in (Psalm 121:8). Let everyone who walks through this door feel welcome and loved. Keep out anything that would harm our family.

The living room: Let this be a place of laughter, conversation, and togetherness. Fill it with Your peace.

The kitchen and dining table: Thank You for daily bread. Let our table be a place of gratitude, connection, and hospitality.

Children's rooms: Protect my children as they sleep. Give them peaceful rest, sweet dreams, and hearts that know You.

The master bedroom: Bless our marriage. Let this be a place of rest, unity, and love.

The office or workspace: Give wisdom, focus, and integrity in the work done here.

The bathroom and laundry room: Thank You for the ordinary places. Help us serve each other in small ways with joy.

The guest room: Bless every guest who stays here. Let them find rest and refreshment.

A prayer over your whole home

Lord, this home belongs to You. Build it, guard it, and fill it with Your presence. Protect every person who lives here from harm, sickness, and evil. Let love, patience, and forgiveness fill these rooms. Make our home a place of peace for our family and a light to everyone who visits. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Amen.

Building a home of wisdom

Proverbs 24:3–4: "Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches."

The "riches" that fill a home aren't just things. They're love, faith, memories, and peace.

Keep God's Word visible

Many families place Scripture at the entry of their home as a daily reminder. A Christian welcome mat from our floor mats collection or a wooden sign with Joshua 24:15 by the door is a simple way to declare who your home belongs to.
