Prayers for Students
Whether your student is starting kindergarten, cramming for finals, or applying to college, school brings plenty of reasons to pray. These prayers are for parents to pray over their students, and for students to pray themselves.
James 1:5: "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally… and it shall be given him."
Starting school
Lord, go with [name] into this new school year. Give them courage, good friends, and kind teachers. Help them feel safe and confident. Remind them You're with them in every classroom. Amen.
Before a test
Father, calm my nerves and clear my mind. Help me remember what I studied and think carefully. Thank You that my worth isn't measured by a grade. Amen.
College applications and decisions
Lord, guide this decision about the future. Open the right doors and close the wrong ones. Give wisdom about where to apply, how to pay for it, and where to go. Help us trust You with the outcome. Amen.
Struggling grades
Father, school is hard right now. Give understanding where things feel confusing. Lead us to the right help: a tutor, a teacher, a study plan. Protect my child from discouragement, and remind them they're loved no matter what. Amen.
Friendships
Lord, lead my child to friends who are kind, loyal, and good influences. Help them be a good friend too. Protect them from loneliness. Amen.
Bullying
Father, protect my child from bullying. Give them courage to speak up and trusted adults to turn to. Heal any hurt it has caused. Give me wisdom in how to respond and advocate. Amen.
If your child is being bullied, talk to their teacher or school right away.
For teachers
Lord, bless my child's teachers. Give them patience, wisdom, energy, and encouragement. Thank You for their work. Amen.
