Caller ID: God?
The hilarious, honest game about “The Lord told me.”
The boat. The “future wife” at youth group week two. The uncle who sold the house because of a dream. “God told me” is one of the most powerful sentences in church, and one of the most misused. God still speaks. But caller ID can be spoofed. Answer each call, run the five checks, and decide who was really on the line.
“Don’t despise prophecies. Test all things, and hold firmly that which is good.”1 Thessalonians 5:20–21
- A call comes in. The screen says GOD, forwarded through somebody.
- Answer it. Then tap the checks: Scripture, Jesus, wise counsel, fruit, and who benefits.
- Make the call: Sounds like God, That’s just you (or the pizza), Using God’s name to control, or Good idea, just call it wisdom.
Heads up: some calls really are God. The goal isn’t to become cynical. It’s to recognize His voice.
