Praying for my spouse

Keep it in your Bible. One line a day, then start over.

Lord, for my spouse, I pray for…

  • A heart open to You
  • Honest questions and honest answers
  • Good people in their path
  • Protection and health
  • Peace in our home
  • Joy in our marriage
  • Patience in me
  • Your timing, not mine

“Not willing that any should perish.” 2 Peter 3:9

Words that keep the door open

  • “I’m not trying to change you.”
  • “I’m glad to talk about it any time you want.”
  • “My faith matters to me, and so do you.”
  • “I still choose you.”

Four-week small group guide

Best in same-gender groups. About 45–60 minutes. Keep everything confidential, speak respectfully about absent spouses, and let anyone pass on any question.

Week 1 · Not a mistake

Read: 1 Corinthians 7:12–16

  1. How did you come to be in a mixed-faith marriage?
  2. What does Paul’s instruction mean for you?
  3. What do you love about your spouse?

Practice: Pray for each spouse by first name.

Week 2 · Won without a word

Read: 1 Peter 3:1–9

  1. Where have your words pushed instead of drawn?
  2. What does a winsome life look like in your home?
  3. Where is the line between respect and enduring control?

Practice: Each person names one kind act to do this week with no spiritual agenda.

Week 3 · Kids, Sundays and money

Read: 2 Timothy 1:5; Romans 12:18

  1. What’s your biggest point of friction right now?
  2. What compromises have helped?
  3. How do you talk to your kids about faith in your home?

Practice: Share one compromise idea someone else might try.

Week 4 · Hope and release

Read: 1 Corinthians 3:5–9; 2 Peter 3:9

  1. What would it look like to release your spouse’s heart to God?
  2. Where do you need companionship, and how can this group help?
  3. What hope are you holding?

Practice: Pray 2 Peter 3:9 over each spouse by name.
