💛 Big Little Feelings

My Safe Grown-Ups 🧑🏾‍🏫

God gives us safe grown-ups to help us. Build your “safe team,” learn the difference between a fun surprise and a secret you should tell, and practice what to say.

🛡️ Step 1: Build my safe team

Type a first name for each (ask a grown-up to help!):

🛡️ My Safe Team

📸 Take a screenshot to keep it, or write it on a card for your backpack. (Nothing is saved or sent.)

🎁 Step 2: Surprise or secret?

Surprises are happy and get told soon. Secrets that make you feel yucky, scared or confused should ALWAYS be told to a safe grown-up.

🗣️ Step 3: Practice what to say

“I need to tell you something important.”
“Something happened that made me feel scared.”
“Someone asked me to keep a secret, and it feels yucky.”
    “Please help me.”

If the first grown-up doesn’t listen, tell another one, and keep telling until someone helps. 💪🏾

💛 Always remember: You will NOT get in trouble for telling a safe grown-up. If someone hurts you or makes you feel unsafe, it is never your fault. In an emergency, call 911. Kids can also call or text Childhelp at 1-800-422-4453 to talk to a caring helper.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1

👨‍👩‍👧 Grown-ups: Build this list together, talk often about surprises vs. secrets, and use correct names for body parts. Tell your child, “You can tell me anything, and I won’t be mad at you.” If you suspect a child is being harmed, call or text the Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-422-4453 or call 911.
