Rich Isn’t Blessed. Broke Isn’t Holy.

Love of money, or just living? What the Bible actually says, with a lot of laughing.

“Give me neither poverty nor riches. Feed me with the food that is needful for me; lest I be full, deny you, and say, ‘Who is Yahweh?’ or lest I be poor, and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.”Agur’s prayer, Proverbs 30:8–9

Prosperity PeteGold suit. Private jet. Says “Glory to God” and “Venmo me” in the same breath. Thinks your Honda is a faith problem.

Poverty PaulaDrinks tap water from a mason jar on principle. Judges your grocery cart. Thinks your savings account is a backslide.

Pete thinks money proves God loves you. Paula thinks money proves you love the world. They’re both very sure, and they’re both very wrong. Somewhere between the private jet and the mason jar is what the Bible actually teaches: contentment, generosity, hard work, open hands, and a God who “richly provides us with everything to enjoy.”

💛 A word before the jokes: we’re laughing at two bad theologies, never at anyone’s bank account. Real poverty is real pain, and God has a special heart for the poor. Real wealth is a real responsibility. Neither one tells you how much God loves you.

Built on Proverbs 30:8–9, 1 Timothy 6:6–10 and 17–19, Philippians 4:11–13, Luke 12:15, Ecclesiastes 5:10, Deuteronomy 8:17–18, 2 Corinthians 8:13–15, James 2:1–5 and Matthew 6:19–24. Scripture quoted from the World English Bible (public domain).
