How to Keep Your Faith Strong All Summer
Summer is a gift: longer days, vacations, cookouts, and a slower pace. But summer can also scatter our spiritual habits. Routines change, church attendance dips, and before we know it, it's August and we feel far from God. Here's how to keep your faith strong all summer.
Psalm 74:17: "Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: thou hast made summer and winter."
1. Choose a simple summer reading plan
Pick something manageable: one Psalm a day, a chapter of Proverbs each day, or one Gospel over the summer. Small and consistent beats ambitious and abandoned.
2. Take your faith on vacation
- Pack a Bible or use a Bible app.
- Visit a local church where you're staying. It's a beautiful way to experience the wider body of Christ.
- Do short devotions by the pool or beach.
3. Pray outside
Take prayer walks in the morning or evening. Watch a sunset and worship the Creator (Psalm 19:1).
4. Embrace summer Sabbath
Use the slower season to truly rest. Unplug, nap, read, and enjoy God's creation without guilt.
5. Stay connected
Small groups often pause for summer. Keep connected anyway: invite friends to a cookout with prayer, or meet a friend for coffee and encouragement.
6. Serve somewhere
Volunteer at Vacation Bible School, a summer camp, or a community event.
7. Worship on the go
Make a summer worship playlist for road trips and long drives.
Summer gear with a message
Carry reminders of faith wherever summer takes you: beach towels, water bottles, sandals, and swimwear.
A summer prayer
Lord, thank You for this season. Help me stay close to You through travel, rest, and busy days. Let summer refresh my soul, not just my schedule. Amen.
