When God Shows Up in the Storm: A Testimony of Grace, Mercy, and Unmatched Faithfulness
There are moments in life when the storm hits so hard that you can barely breathe. The kind of seasons where the waves rise higher than your strength, the winds howl louder than your prayers, and everything in you whispers, “I can’t do this.” I’ve been there — standing in the middle of a mess I didn’t choose, a battle I didn’t see coming, and a storm I didn’t feel equipped to survive.
But it was in that place — the place of breaking, the place of confusion, the place of surrender — that God showed me who He truly is.
Not the God I heard about. Not the God I thought I understood. But the God who steps into storms, speaks to winds, and carries His children when their strength runs out.
God Shows Up When Everything Falls Apart
I used to think God showed up when I had it all together. When I was strong. When I was faithful. When I was “spiritual enough.”
But the storm taught me something different.
It taught me 2 Corinthians 12:9 in real time: “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”
It wasn’t my strength that brought God close — it was my weakness. It wasn’t my perfection that moved His hand — it was my surrender.
In the middle of my storm, God didn’t wait for me to fix myself. He stepped into the chaos and blessed the mess.
He Turned My Storm Into a Stage for His Glory
There were days I cried out, “Lord, why this? Why now?” And gently, consistently, He reminded me:
“This is where I show you that only I can be God.”
When I couldn’t see a way out, He parted the waters like He did in Exodus 14:21. When I felt surrounded, He reminded me of Psalm 34:7, “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him.”
When I felt forgotten, He whispered Isaiah 43:2 into my spirit: “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.”
Not if you pass through the waters. When.
Storms are not evidence of God’s absence. Storms are often the stage where He reveals His presence.
His Grace Carried Me When My Strength Failed
I didn’t walk out of the storm because I was strong. I walked out because His grace carried me.
Grace that covered me. Grace that lifted me. Grace that kept me from drowning in fear, doubt, and exhaustion.
And the more I leaned on Him, the more I realized:
His mercy is not fragile. His blessings are not limited. His presence is not conditional.
He is the God who steps into the fire with us like He did for Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in Daniel 3. He is the God who calms storms with a single word like in Mark 4:39. He is the God who walks on waves others drown in.
He Worked It Out — Not Because I Was Good, But Because He Is God
Looking back, I can say with confidence:
God worked it out. Every detail. Every tear. Every setback. Every delay.
What the enemy meant for evil, God flipped for good — just like Genesis 50:20 promises.
He didn’t just bring me through the storm. He transformed me in it.
He strengthened my faith. He deepened my trust. He reminded me that I never walk alone.
We Never Walk Alone — Not for One Step
If there’s one truth my storm carved into my heart, it’s this:
God is with us — in the rain, in the wind, in the chaos, in the silence, in the waiting, in the breaking, and in the rebuilding.
Psalm 23:4 says, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me.”
Not watching from a distance. Not cheering from the sidelines. With me.
With you.
Every step. Every breath. Every battle.
Your Storm Is Not the End — It’s the Beginning of a Testimony
If you’re in a storm right now, hear me:
God is not late. God is not silent. God is not distant.
He is working. He is moving. He is fighting for you.
And one day — sooner than you think — you will look back and say:
“It was in the storm that I saw God the clearest.”
Because storms don’t stop God. Storms reveal Him.
