What Was Sent to Destroy Me, God Used to Transform Me
A testimony for ClaimedByGodDesigns.com
There are moments in life when the weight of what we’re facing feels unbearable — moments when the enemy whispers, “This will break you. This will finish you. This is the end of your story.” But standing here today, I can say with my whole chest: what was sent to destroy me, God used to transform me.
I didn’t always see it. I didn’t always feel strong. I didn’t always understand the purpose. But God was working in the shadows long before I ever saw the light.
When Life Felt Like It Was Falling Apart
There were seasons where the attacks came from every direction — heartbreak, betrayal, loss, confusion, spiritual warfare that felt relentless. I remember nights where I cried until my body went numb, mornings where I woke up wondering how I would make it through the day.
I felt like Job when he said, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.” — Job 13:15
Not because I was strong, but because everything else around me was shaking. Trusting God became the only solid ground I had left.
And like Job, I didn’t know God was setting the stage for restoration.
The Breaking That Became My Making
Looking back, I see now that the breaking wasn’t punishment — it was preparation.
Just like Joseph, I went through seasons that felt unfair, unexpected, and unexplainable. Joseph didn’t know that the pit, the betrayal, and the prison were all leading him to purpose. But later he could say:
“You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.” — Genesis 50:20
That verse became my life. What the enemy meant for evil — the heartbreak, the rejection, the loss — God flipped it. He used it to strip away what was killing me, to strengthen what was weak in me, and to reveal what He had placed inside me all along.
The very things that tried to break me became the tools God used to build me.
When God Steps Into the Fire
There were moments I felt like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego — standing in a fire I didn’t choose, facing flames I didn’t start. But just like them, I discovered something life‑changing:
God doesn’t always pull you out of the fire — sometimes He steps into it with you.
And when He does, the fire loses its power.
The heat that should have destroyed me refined me. The flames that should have consumed me purified me. The season that should have ended me elevated me.
Because the God who stood in the fire with them stands in the fire with me.
The Strength I Didn’t Know I Had
I used to pray for God to take the storm away. Now I thank Him for teaching me how to stand in it.
Paul said it best when he wrote: “When I am weak, then I am strong.” — 2 Corinthians 12:10
I didn’t understand that verse until life humbled me. Until I had nothing left but God. Until His strength became the only strength I could stand on.
And that’s when I realized: The enemy didn’t break me — he built the warrior in me.
The Transformation Only God Could Do
What was meant to destroy me:
-
taught me how to pray
-
taught me how to fight spiritually
-
taught me how to discern
-
taught me how to surrender
-
taught me how to trust God with my whole life
It transformed my heart, my mind, my identity, and my purpose.
I became who I was always meant to be — not in the easy seasons, but in the crushing ones.
Just like the olive must be pressed to release oil, and the grape must be crushed to produce wine, God used the pressure to reveal what He placed inside me.
My Story Isn’t One of Survival — It’s One of Victory
I don’t stand here as someone who barely made it. I stand here as someone God carried, strengthened, rebuilt, and redeemed.
The enemy tried to bury me, but he didn’t know I was a seed. And God — in His mercy — watered every broken place until new life grew.
Today, I can say with confidence:
What was sent to destroy me became the very thing God used to transform me. What was meant to break me became the reason I’m stronger. What was meant to silence me became the testimony that gives Him glory.
And I wouldn’t trade the transformation for anything.
