🍽️ Before you fast

Fasting is a beautiful discipline. So is not ending up in the ER. Check anything that applies to you, and we’ll show you what to think about first.

❓ Ask your pharmacist

Your pharmacist is one of the most accessible health professionals you have. No appointment, no copay for a question. Bring these.

  1. What is this medicine for, and how will I know it’s working?
  2. When and how should I take it? With food? What if I miss a dose?
  3. What side effects are common, and which ones mean I should call someone?
  4. Does it interact with anything else I take, including vitamins, herbs, or alcohol?
  5. Can I stop it on my own, or does it need to be tapered?
  6. Is there a generic or a cheaper option?
  7. I’m planning to fast. What do I need to know about this medicine?
  8. Can you review everything I take? (Bring every bottle in a bag, the “brown bag” review.)
TipUse one pharmacy for everything when you can. They can only catch interactions they can see.

🙏 A prayer before treatment

For a new prescription, a procedure, chemo, surgery, or the pill you’re nervous about.

Lord, You are the God who heals, and You are with me in this room. Thank You for the doctors, nurses, and pharmacists You’ve put in my path, and for the wisdom You gave people to make medicine. Bless this treatment. Let it do what it’s meant to do and nothing it shouldn’t. Give me peace while I wait, courage when I’m afraid, and honesty to speak up when something doesn’t feel right. Whatever happens, I trust that I am Yours. In Jesus’ name, amen.
“Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.”James 5:14 (WEB)
