The Holy Spirit Isn’t a Force

He’s not a feeling, not a vibe, and definitely not a lightsaber power.

A lot of us were raised to think of the Holy Spirit as an “it”: a mysterious energy, a goosebump, or something that only happens at certain churches. But Jesus talked about Him as a He: someone who teaches, speaks, prays for you, and can even be grieved. Let’s meet Him.

“I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever: the Spirit of truth… You know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you.”Jesus, John 14:16–17

✝️ A note on differences: Christians across traditions agree that the Holy Spirit is a Person and is God. They differ on some questions, like spiritual gifts today and how believers experience being filled. This page sticks to what Christians broadly share. Talk with your pastor about the rest.
