“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”Romans 8:1

Shame Off You

Guilt says “I did something bad.” Shame says “I am bad.” One leads you to God. The other makes you hide from Him.

You confessed it years ago, but it still replays at 2 a.m. You believe God forgave you; you just can’t forgive yourself. Maybe you feel like if people really knew you, they’d leave. That’s shame, and it’s been hiding people from God since Adam and Eve grabbed the fig leaves. Learn the difference between healthy guilt and toxic shame, see what God does every time someone hides, and lay down what He already picked up.

If your shame comes from something done TO you (abuse, assault, or being used), that was never your guilt to carry. Please talk to someone safe. RAINN: 1-800-656-4673. In crisis, call or text 988.
